The body actually needs fat to function properly, but it only needs the good fat, so you should try to cut all the unhealthy fats from your diet. Just because a particular food says that it's diet, low fat or non fat does not mean it's made of healthy fats. Good fat consistants of unsaturated fats that are found in many nuts, flax, avocados and olive oils. The bad fats consist of the type of fat in sweets and junk food, and that's called Trans fat. Then there is saturated fat, which is the kind found in animal products, but you should keep these to a minimum and try to get only the organic kind. By eating more healthy fats and keeping the other fats to a minimum, you'll reach your weight loss goals faster.
